Basil Martini

The basil martini is a bright green drink, a perfect color to enjoy during the Mos Eisley Cantina scene in episode IV. If you need a little extra sweetness, feel free to add a touch of lime to juice to your shaker.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 oz vodka (or Gin Mare)

3/4 oz water

3/4 oz tonic

3/4 tsp agave nectar

3/4 – 1 oz lime juice (to taste)

1 bunch of basil leaves

1 cup of ice

lime wedge (to garnish)

Directions:

Pick out 3 to 4 basil leaves of your bunch. Muddle them with water in the bottom of your cocktail shaker. Add ice, vodka, agave nectar, and lime juice (if you wish) and shake very vigorously. Add tonic to the shake and combine with a single toss. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a lime wedge and a basil leaf.

Warning: Adding carbonation into a shaker can be dangerous, as the bubbles can cause it to explode leaving you with a sticky mess. Be gentle once the tonic has been added to avoid this.

Blue Moon

This floral cocktail is so light and airy it may have come out of Cloud City. The Creme de Violette works wonderfully well with a lighter gin to produce spring like floral flavors. A purple delight, it is balanced and easy to drink while you yell at Luke, “It’s a trap!”.

Ingredients:

2 oz gin (preferably a lighter gin, I used The Botanist)

1/2 – 1 oz Creme de Violette (to you desired sweetness)

1/2 oz lemon juice

1 lemon twist (to garnish)

1 cup of ice

Directions:

Combine all the ingredients apart from the lemon twist in a cocktail shaker. Shake until frosty, strain into a chilled coupe, for added elegance, or martini glass. Garnish with the lemon twist.
