June is Professional Wellness Month, created to highlight the importance of health and well-being in the workplace. Research has shown that employees of companies offering\u00a0wellness programs tend to live healthier lives, increase their worth in the marketplace, and become happier, more productive workers. Healthy employees also reduce healthcare costs for the company and for the community at large.<\/p>\n

Although wellness programs have been in many workplaces for a while, data shows that these programs need to do more to help people understand their health and what they can do day-to-day to achieve well-being. Additionally, awareness needs to be raised within the community about the many benefits of employee wellness at work and beyond, to encourage companies that currently do not offer programs to do so.<\/p>\n
