ASCEND was founded in 2001 following the death of Annie Scandalios, the inspiration for the South Carolina based organization. Annie’s outrage at the staggering statistics of cancer deaths in the United States and her desire to “Make Ending Cancer a National Priority by connecting those touched by cancer into one voice to make a difference” lives on in the ASCEND Foundation which strives to create a national advocacy movement in order to achieve its mission.
