Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation - El Paso

About Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation - El Paso
Candlelighters was formed in El Paso in 1978 by a small group of parents brought together by one common concern: their children had cancer. Encouraged by a local physician, they formed a support group to share information and experiences. They could talk about their fears and frustrations with others who knew exactly how they felt. They found the emotional support they gave each other mad a huge difference in the lives of their entire families. They gained strength from each other. As the group grew stronger, it also grew larger. In 1985, the first Candlelighters' office opened its doors. Today, Candlelighters of the El Paso Area is an independent, nonprofit organization affiliated with the national Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. They remain dedicated to making life better for children who have cancer by providing hope, support, encouragement, education and opportunities for those children, their families and the community.
