About Blackhat Humane Society
Blackhat Humane Society rescues and cares for abandoned and stray animals on the Navajo Nation. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit supported by a network of volunteer foster families who re-socialize and find forever homes for all our rescued dogs and cats. Blackhat provides financial support and labor support for vaccinations, spay/neuter clinics, and emergency veterinary care for animals in need. The Navajo Nation is a Native American reservation encompassing over 27,000 square miles that spans Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, and Colorado. The Navajo Nation has only 1 tribal veterinarian and 6 animal control officers to handle over a quarter of a million stray dogs and cats.
