About Blue Hill Observatory Science Center
Blue Hill Observatory is the oldest continually operating Weather Observatory in all the United States. It opened on February 1, 1885. The records are still gathered the same way as in 1885 and modern techniques are also used. This Benchmark Climate Station is a valuable resource to meteorologists, climatologists and other scientists around the world. The Observatory also offers educational programs and a program for girls and young women called Women in Natural Sciences (WINS).
It has been a 501c3 organization since 1998 when the science center was established at the Observatory.
