Sojourner Center

Since 1977, Sojourner Center has been a safe haven from domestic violence for women and their children with expanded services to now include pets and victims of human trafficking. The shelter began in a single-family home in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, with 16 beds. We are now the largest domestic violence shelter in Arizona, and one of the largest in the country. Our mission is to provide a continuum of multi-cultural services to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence/sexual assault/human trafficking (DV/SA/HT) in Arizona, while collaborating with the global community on education, research, and advocacy to end domestic violence. Our vision is a world free from domestic violence. We provide a full-range of wrap-around services for those in Sojourner Center crisis shelter, transitional housing and community-based case management. These services include: emergency shelter; transitional housing; case management; DV/SA/HT education; safety planning; lay legal advocacy; a 24-hour crisis hotline; referral services; and community outreach. We also offer a health clinic for medical and behavioral health care; life skills; child development center; education assessment, goals and instructional support; and a pet companion shelter, all on-site. All services are available to any participants, whether shelter or community-based.
