About Irene and Eric Simon Brain Research Foundation - IES
This charity raises money to help advance brain research that will help find effective treatments to serious brain disorders and diseases, such as: pain, addiciton, Parkinson's schizophrenia, Alzheimer's.
An important program is the IES Brain Research Foundation student fellowship program to attract bright young people to the field and to give the student an outstanding summer in a first rate lab, to see if this might be part of his or her career. There is a teacher recognition program recognizing teachers who motivate, inspire, create interest in neuroscience. The IES Brain Research Foundation speaker's bureau educates the public on how important this basic research is to find answers that we all are hoping for and what is happening in the different areas in basic research that lead to clinical advancements.
