Smiles Change Lives - SCL

SCL engages community partners in providing excellent orthodontic care to low-income youth. About 20% of all young people need braces to correct moderate to severe malocclusions -- irregularities of the teeth and jaws -- that interferes with their oral health, speaking and eating, as well as contributing to low self-esteem due to peer teasing and taunting. SCL community partners reduce their regular cost of treatment by 60% for qualified, deserving youth thereby making a significant investment in their future. The family pays a small portion and SCL helps raise the remaining expense and facilitates the program from the referral and application process through screening and acceptance to completion and assessment. SCL provides low-income youth and their families a hand-up, not a hand-out by increasing their opportunity to build a better future for themselves.
