About Survivors of Torture International
There's an estimated 500,000 survivors of torture in the U.S. - 11,000 of which live in San Diego County. SURVIVORS of Torture, International helps survivors of politically motivated torture in San Diego County reclaim strength and vitality. Survivors are becoming healthy, self-sufficient community members as they receive specialized care. At SURVIVORS, clients can receive psychological, medical, dental, social and legal services at no cost thanks to support from donors, volunteers, and grants. Audits show that over 90% of every dollar donated goes towards direct services for survivors. Communities are strengthening as torture survivors and their families are healing.
