Does Home Depot offer a Military Discount? 


Yes. Home Depot has offered a special military discount for active personnel, veterans, and their families since 1979. 

Active military, veterans, and their spouses get 10% off eligible purchases every day, in-store and online. The maximum discount per year can’t go over $400 in savings. 


Who is eligible for the Military Discount? 

Active military personnel, veterans, and their spouses can apply for the Military Discount. Spouses can only apply for the Military Discount if their partner is an active service member. 

Military personnel and veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS), and the National Guard can all apply. 

Who isn’t eligible for the Military Discount? 

  • Non-military members are not eligible for the discount.
  • Those who have been dishonorably discharged are not eligible for the discount.
  • Dependents of military personnel or veterans are not eligible for the discount.
  • Spouses of veterans are not eligible for the discount. 

How do I apply for the Military Discount at Home Depot? 

To enroll in the Military Discount, you must visit the Military Discount page online or go to the Home Depot mobile app. 

  1. First, create or log in to your personal account. 
  2. Go to the Military Discount Page. 
  3. Select “Verify Military Status”. 
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions. 
  5. Submit your application. 
  6. Once verified, your personal account will reflect your verified military status. 

How do I use my military discount? 


To use your military discount online, you need to be logged in with your verified military status personal account. 

To use your military discount in-store, you will need to use your Virtual ID at checkout. You can find this Virtual ID in the Home Depot mobile app or online. 

Who verifies my military status? 

Home Depot uses the trusted third-party verification service SheerID. SheerID uses private and secure data sources to confirm your information. 

How long does it take to verify my military status? 

It usually takes five minutes or less to verify your status and set you up with a Military Discount. If there are issues, get in touch with Home Depot directly to provide any additional documentation. 

Are there any items and purchases excluded from the Military Discount? 

Yes. Select items, services, and fees are excluded from the Military Discount. Items ineligible for the Military Discount include, but are not limited to, lumber, wire, building materials, value-priced merchandise, tool rental fees, labor items, gift cards, and delivery are not eligible for a Military Discount. This list is an example. There are many products and services that are excluded from the Military discount. 

Can I use my Military Discount with other coupons or promotions? 

No. The Military Discount cannot be combined with other promotions. It is also only available for personal purchases, not professional purchases.

Home Depot is a proud employer of veterans and their spouses. Currently, more than 35,000 military personnel, veterans, and their spouses work for Home Depot. 

Home Depot invests in veterans causes. To date, the Home Depot Foundation has invested more than $400 million in support of various veteran’s causes. They have a goal of reaching $500 million in investments for veterans by 2025.
