Easy Last Minute D.I.Y Halloween Costumes

Halloween has snuck up on us once again. Raise your hand if you swore you would plan ahead and figure out your Halloween costumes by September. Yet it’s just around the corner… and you have no idea what you’re going to be.

From activewear to everyday clothes, there are plenty of Halloween costumes you can make by using clothing and items you already own.

Little Red Riding Hood

Simply don a bright red hooded cape with a white dress, grab a basket filled with snacks and off to Grandma’s house you go! You can make your own cape using fabric, needle and thread (or fabric glue if you’re not especially crafty.) Pick up the craft supplies you’ll need using these Michael’s coupons, offers and deals.

“Flashdance”

One of the iconic 80’s dance movie, dressing up as one of the characters from “Flashdance” is easy. Simply don an oversized grey sweatshirt over a black leotard and add some leg warmers. Target has both leotards and leg warmers and you can use these coupons and deals to save money.

Starchild from KISS

This requires a bit of makeup- actually a lot. Starchild has one of the easier “looks” to copy and there are plenty of Youtube tutorials to help you out. You’ll be using a lot of face paint so save some change by using these Amazon coupons, offers and deals. Bonus points if you get a group of friends to dress up as the entire KISS band.

Rosie the Riveter

A cultural icon, Rosie the Riveter represented the women who worked in the factories during World War II. Roll up the sleeves on a chambray denim shirt, tie a red bandana around your pinned hair and get ready to shout “we can do it!”

Notorious R.B.G.

That’s Ruth Bader Ginsburg, for those of you not in the know. The Supreme Court justice has become an unlikely cultural icon. Wear a black robe (or improvise) and a bib necklace. You can find a few that resemble the ones R.B.G. wears with these Saks Off 5th Ave offers. If you don’t know, now you know.

Cat, Dog, Rabbit, etc.

Not the most original or creative costume out there, but it will get the job done. Don an all black, brown or white outfit, draw some whiskers on your face and find the animal ears of your choice. If you slightly bend a pair of brown dog ears, you can be the popular doggy Snapchat filter.

Or for something a bit more creative, you can turn yourself into an adorable deer. YouTuber Claudia Sulewski has a tutorial using just white and black eyeliner and a touch of contour. Find the right eyeliner and contouring tools with these MAC Cosmetics coupons, offers and deals.

Netflix and Chill

You’ll need a partner for this costume but it’s super easy. One of you wears a red shirt with Netflix written on it and the other dons a blue sweatshirt with the word “chill.” “Chill” can also carry around a bag of ice for an extra layer to the joke.

Damian from “Mean Girls”

Most everyone has seen the generational classic “Mean Girls.” (If you haven’t, go watch it. Now.) Just wear any zip-up hoodie with the hood up and sunglasses, and walk around shouting “She doesn’t even go here!” True fans will get your costume right away. If you don’t already own a basic zip-up hoodie, you can save money on one using these Old Navy coupons and deals.
