Home Depot Senior Discount Guide

Home Depot offers everything someone could need to improve their home. Improve every room in your home and yard space with the many quality products and tools available through Home Depot.

Home Depot has been a family institution for decades, and to compete with other online retailers has increased its offerings. If you know where to shop and how to shop, you can enjoy massive discounts and get big deals at Home Depot.

Does Home Depot have a senior discount?

No. Home Depot does not offer a specific discount for seniors. The only retired professionals who can get a discount are veterans under the Home Depot military discount program. Though there is no senior-specific discount at Home Depot, there are many ways that seniors can save when shopping on home improvement items.

How can seniors save when shopping at Home Depot?

Home Depot is a staple for many seniors, from gardening to home improvement to everyday repair products. Knowing how to save even without a Senior Discount is important to ensure that you are getting the best deal every time.

  1. Shop the Special Buy of the Day

Shop the online-only Special Buy of the Day for discounts between 25% to 50%. Many of the products come with free delivery, meaning you can get your order for less and without a hassle. These deals are not available in-store.

  1. How to earn 10% to 15% off coupons

Home Depot offers a few special coupons when you sign up for Home Depot alerts. You can earn a $5 off $50 coupon when you sign up for email alerts, another coupon when you sign up for text alerts, and another one when you join the Home Depot Garden Club.

To earn 15% off, you will need to complete a Home Depot workshop.

  1. Give the grandkids something to do with a free Home Depot Kids Workshop Kit

Home Depot offers free Kids Workshop kits. You need to go to your nearby store on the first Saturday of every month to get them. Home Depot gives them away starting at 09:00 am. Try to get there as early as you can because this is a first-come, first-served situation, and they tend to run out fast.

  1. Join the Garden Club

If you regularly shop at Home Depot for its garden center, join the Garden Club. Joining will give you tips, special promotions, and even free gifts.

  1. Return dead plants for a refund

Massively disappointed with a plant you purchased from Home Depot? Most plants come with a 1-year warranty, so if it dies before the year is up and you still have the receipt, you can get a refund.

  1. Save a trip and save with a subscription

Save on the gas and the hassle, and subscribe for items you need regularly. Not all items are available on a subscription, but the ones you most often need regularly will be. You can save 5% and get free shipping on subscription items.

  1. Price-match

Home Depot will price match competitors with brick-and-mortar stores (not eBay or Amazon). They will price-match regularly priced items and even match discounts. If you can buy an item for less with a coupon discount at a competitor, they will price-match that final price.

  1. Shop the sales

There are many big sales throughout the year. Make the most of these to get great deals all year round.

  • Spring Black Friday Sale
  • Black Friday Sale
  • Memorial Day Sale
  • Fourth of July Sale
  • Labor Day Sale
  1. Know what free services are available at Home Depot

You can get many services for free at Home Depot.

  • Get Home Depot paint shaken and retinted.
  • Get lumber and other materials professionally cut.
  • Get your carpet installed (available for orders over $599)
  • Get your tools repaired (if the warranty covers it).
  1. Save by renting at Home Depot

There are many ways to rent and save at Home Depot. One of the biggest programs is the tool rental program. Buying power tools for a project is not cost-effective. Renting means saving and not having to worry about storing big power tools in the long term.

Also, rent vehicles. If you have a heavy load, you can rent a Load n’ Go fan starting at $19.

You can get a discount if you plan to move and need a moving truck by doing it through Home Depot. If you reserve a Penske truck through Home Depot, save 10%. You can get an additional 10% off if you are a college student or have a military discount. If you are an AAA member, save another 12%.

You can only combine two of the discounts, so while you can stack, you cannot stack all of them.

  1. Shop the Rebate Center

The Home Depot Rebate Center has special rebates on fridges, freezers, dishwashers, ovens, washing machines, and more – you can even get a rebate on installation. You get larger rebates for multi-buy orders. This is perfect for those replacing more than one appliance at once.

  1. Get the veterans discount

If you are a veteran or the spouse of a veteran or active service member, apply for the Home Depot military discount for an additional 10% off.

  1. Get free shipping with these tips

Some purchases automatically come with free shipping. You have to spend over $45 for most orders to get free two-day delivery. You get free standard delivery on appliances over $396.
